Data collection from Sodexo- Resource Management Group
The students from resource management group interacted with Mr.Raju from Sodexo team to collect data about the following: Food wastage on daily basis Fuel consumption in a month Waste treatment plan Consumption of water Number of paper cups and paper plates used on a daily basis Leftover food
Interviewing Director of administration IISH
Students from various groups interviewed Cdr.Naidu to inquire further about their Exhibition issues. The students learnt about measures taken for waste management, pollution control and safety of children. They also leant about conflict management during the session.
Exhibition process through Design Thinking
The students developed empathy through research work, field trips, surveys, interviews, watching videos and reading books as well as news articles related to the exhibition issue. They made an empathy map sharing their feelings from the observations made and defined the problem. Later the students came up with several ideas to solve the problem identified.
Mindfulness session- Peace and Conflict group
Ms.Swetha conducted a mindfulness session for the members of Peace and Conflict group. The student learnt the importance of keeping their mind calm in order to deal with any conflict situation.
Session with Mr.Bala on resource management and pollution
Mr.Bala one of the parent volunteered to have an interactive session with the students of Pollution and Resource Management group. They learnt a lot during this session. The students identified circular model for reducing waste as compared to linear model that results in wastage of resources. It was a very informative session.
Using art as an expression
The students had a session with Ms.Dipanwita, our Art teacher and came up with various ways to use art as the medium for presentation and conveying message for their respective issues.
An initiative towards saving resources
Zayan took an initiative to use his own cup instead of using paper cups during snack break to save paper and avoid wastage of resources. He also went to each grade and requested students to join him in this action. Few students were inspired and they too have started to use their own cups.
Awareness on good touch and bad touch
Sonal of Child Safety group prepared a presentation on Good Touch and Bad Touch and gave presentation in PYP to create awareness on how to identify the difference between good touch and bad touch, what to do when we face a situation like this and whom to contact.
Session with Mr.Shiv, HOD Sports IISH
The students of Child Safety group interacted with Mr.Shiv to inquire more about safety of children on playground. It was a very informative session. The students learnt about how they can ensure safety on playground and whom to contact in case of any emergency.
Field trip to EPTRI - Pollution Group
The students visited EPTRI- Environment Protection Training and Research Institute. They visited the lab where all the samples are collected from across the state and tested for its composition and purity. Mr.B Siva Prasad , one of the scientists led them to lab and explained the functioning of various scientific equipments that are used for testing. They later had an interactive session with him. The student asked several questions to gain a better understanding of the statistics related to pollution in Telangana state and how can we reduce pollution.
