The students began to gather information through referring to various websites and books based on the goals set by them to explore more about their Exhibition issues.
The students visited school library and collected several books that would be helpful in gathering information as they research about their respective issues.
The students began to plan their inquiry by using the guiding questions for the Tuning in and Finding out stages of inquiry cycle. They also duscussed with their mentors and made a list of possible resources that would be helpful during the inquiry process.
The students had a session on difference between a topic and a concept.They were later introduced to features of a central idea. Th students worked in their respective interest groups and discussed the major concepts they want to explore and framed the first draft of Central idea referring to the checklist with features of a central idea.
The students began selecting issue for the Exhibition by engaging themselves in a discussion sharing the issues that concern them. They shared what they have observed in and around their local community.The students went through different newspapers to make themselves aware of several issues that needs to be addressed and which have global implications as well. It is important that the students should be able to relate themselves to the selected issues and feel passionate to bring a change and make a difference in the society. They were given an opportunity to select the issues they would like to choose for the Exhibition and later interest groups were formed based on the common issues selected by the students.
Ms.Pushpita our teacher librarian, conducted a session on Academic Honesty for our students. They learnt the importance of maintaining integrity during the Exhibition by citing all the sources of information gathered during the inquiry process.
The students were introduced to the features of PYP Exhibition and its purpose.They also learnt about who all are part of this process. They read PYP Exhibition guidelines and shared their understanding using 5 Ws and 1 H graphic organizer.
